NOTES

Most of the open source 360 degree panorama libraries currently available do not support all of the 360 degree panorama formats.  For example, many only view monoscopic equirectangular images.  That is, they will not show stereoscopic images nor 360 video of any format.

Some will show monoscopic images and video, but not stereoscopic images or video.

Some will show monoscopic images and video side-by-side for Google cardboard, but not stereoscopic images or video.

Only a very few will show monoscopic and steroscopic images and video, but the format may be limited to left/right.

Youtube will correctly play steroscopic video if it is in left/right format but not if it is top/bottom format.

Vimeo will correctly play stereoscopic video if it is in top/bottom format, but not left/right format.

3D Studio Max can create a 360 degree panorama of a 3D model that you create.

Video format for Vimeo:

For stereoscopic 360 video, Vimeo supports the top/bottom layout. These types of sources include two equirectangular videos, one on top of another, contained within the same file. The left/right layout for stereoscopic video is not supported and cannot be rendered as 360 within the Vimeo player.

Resolution: We support upload and playback for videos up to 8K.

Aspect ratio: We recommend a 2:1 aspect ratio for 4K monoscopic 360 video. For 4K stereoscopic 360 video, we recommend a 4:1 aspect ratio for each of the two equirectangular images stacked on top of each other, so that combined image has a 2:1 aspect ratio.
